Gloria A. Brown, MH

 Herbalist, Aromatherapist, Energy Worker

For over six and a half years, I was the Proprietor of Divine Inspirations Bookstore LLC, a successful spiritual and inspirational business in Nutley, NJ.  After spending thirty years in corporate America, I fulfilled my dream of bringing together a love for books and educational services and programs in the area of alternative health.  My goal was to help improve the health and well-being of people in the community.  While I was growing the business, a bookstore and wellness center, I met many interesting customers and spiritual teachers, which reawakened my desire to continue my own spiritual journey through herbs and hands-on healing.  This desire to create an herbal product line and to teach and inspire others to take care of their health by building their own apothecaries led to the launch of Ahh-Land Woman Herbals.

My journey...

As I look back over my childhood, I think about the “special” remedies that my parents whipped up whenever any of us kids were sick or tried to stay home from school.  My father was Jamaican, and my mother’s parents came from the islands of Bermuda, Trinidad and Tobago. Hence the name of my business, Ahh~Land Woman Herbals.

I remember a story my mom loved to tell about me.  As a baby, I started to walk much too early.  She said my legs and back started to bow a little.  Well, she grabbed the castor oil, rubbed me down and sat me in the sun on a daily basis.  As an herbalist, I now know that castor oil is good for joint and back pain and stiffness.  It’s great for sunburn and as an excellent skin moisturizer, and  Vitamin D from the sun was also good for healthy bone growth.   Well, it worked!!  Thanks, Mom, for the straight legs and back.

Even though my mother was a Licensed Practical Nurse, she didn’t necessarily believe in conventional medicines for her family.  The old folkways worked better and were safer.  If you had a fever, she might prepare a poultice for your chest or place a pan of sliced onions under your bed to help draw out infection and help remove germs from the air.  It might smell bad but it sure worked.  My brother, who suffers from asthma, was given barley tea as a child.  Barley contains antioxidants and Vitamins C and E which help to normalize and control breathing.

My vision...
There are many more stories I could share about the wonders of herbal remedies.  They have sparked an interest in me to pursue different kinds of alternative healing modalities and how they can benefit others.  I’m glad that I’ve decided to become an herbalist and energy healer.  I’d like to share what I’ve learned with you through my herbal products and energy work.    Won’t you join me on my journey to make herbal health and wellness more accessible?
